The Sultanate of Oman is becoming a developing country that is developing a national energy strategy. The integral part of the strategy is to satisfy the needs of the national renewable energy strategy. The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is responsible to ensure the production and delivery of sufficient electricity and water production capacity at the lowest cost to meet demands in the Sultanate of Oman. The increase in energy renewable and efficiency is providing mainstream for sustainable development. The energy-efficient policies are required to ensure secure energy development and sustainable process. The population of Oman has grown from 2.34 million to 2.77 million from 2003 to 2010(Omanpwp. om, 2019). Oman has increased the significant efficiencies of gas-based power generation. The research statistics show that natural gas has produced 7.2 tera watt-hour of electricity but the demand for energy is still high. The statistics between 2000 and 2011 shows that electricity by using distilled water production has increased by 1 80% and 1 90% in previous years. It is the need for the earth to introduce solar energy system in Oman. Omani renewable energy sector is planning a project dealing with solar applications such as solar street lights and solar water heaters. The application of solar energy can reduce the requirement of energy and it can increase renewable energy resources in the country(Charabi, Al-Badi, & Sorensen, 2014). There is a potential in the significant scope of solar energy resources in Oman and it is supposed to cover the domestic electricity requirement. In accordance with the plans of Oman for moving towards renewable energy by 2030, the present report aligns with the interest of national solar energy initiative. The Sultanate of Oman has announced plans to install photovoltaic solar power panels in different areas, particularly in residential buildings. The installation of photovoltaic solar panels with 3 to 5-kilowatt power system can reduce the energy deficiency across the country(Kazem, 2015). The aim of the present report is to have feasibility analysis, stakeholder impact analysis, project management analysis, cost analysis, flowchart for the production process flow chart for the material components, and to develop schedule analysis for the completion of the project.
1.1 Project description
Oman power and water procurement company are planning to achieve a government target of reducing 10% renewable energy shares. This aim of Oman power and water procurement energy was stated in the previous 7-year statement that was declared in May 2018. The main concern is to improve renewable energy resources by developing energy and electricity by 2025. To achieve the goal the Oman power and water procurement company has stated different methodologies and solar photovoltaic projects are high rated projects to achieve the goal and to meet the requirement of domestic electricity(Charabi, Al-Badi, & Sorensen, 2014). The project related to solar photovoltaics cell had issued a request for the qualification that is further connected to the development of two new solar-based independent power projects. The combined capacity of these two solar-based independent power projects ranges between 1000 to 1200-megawatt electricity production. As a member of the project team for the Solar based power project, we aim to design a complete project that can promote green energy generation in Sultanate of Oman. Different companies will develop bids to achieve a contract(Kazem, 2015). Currently, our main focus is to develop of feasibility report that deals with development financing ownershipconstruction maintenance and operation of the solar photovoltaic power plant. The Solar photovoltaics Power Plant will have a minimum capacity of 500-megawatt energy and maximum capacity is 600 megawatts for AC. The delivery of energy will be according to the plan developed by OPWP(Ojha, 2019).
2 Feasibility research
The focus of the present report is to ensure successful project completion and to improve the energy efficiency in Sultanate of Oman by using photovoltaic solar energy plants. Different evaluations for the huge demand for energy in the Omani market are considered. Huge resources are utilized together with the information required for the successful completion of the project. The important considerations include total demand for energy, current sources of energy, income from providing energy, and cost of production(Charabi, Al-Badi, & Sorensen, 2014). But in the present case feasibility analysis consider energy modelling, emission analysis financial analysis, techno-economical assessment of PV system that is connected to the grid, sizing of standalone batteries, optimal sizes of hybrid batteries, and effect of temperature and dust on photovoltaic energy generation plant(Gopinath, 2012).
